2003 Marques de Caceres “Crianza” Rioja

According to the label, "A blend of tempranillo, garnacha, and graciano aged for one year in French and American oak." Light ruby color. Spicy rose notes, with aggressive acidity and hot fruits. Mellowed after an hour, and worked well with our flank steak.

I went searching for info on Spanish labeling laws and found this:

"A Spanish wine labeled crianza has spent one year in oak barrels. A reserva has been aged for two years; one of these years has to have been spent in oak. Gran Reserva is aged for two years in oak and three years in the bottle."
