2004 Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva **

A Wine Spectator 90+ wine according to my mom - when did she start paying attention to such things? - and a good value (it must be, since she served it at a shower for our friend's daughter) this is the kind of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo that reminds me of thin crust pizza. It's a big wine, dense, dry and tart, probably best served not too warm. Good as hell, we stashed the leftovers from the party in the cellar.

  2. Just had some tonight. It was good enough that I came home and went to the internet to find out where to get more.

  3. Had it for the first time tonight. I definitely agree with the "thin crust pizza" impression. I liked the sour cherry thing it had going on and the drying grip at the end. I wouldn't call the bottle I had big or dense. The fruit was nice and clean, but simple and short. I'd say the price is about right for the quality.
