Cascina Val del Prete "Serra de'Gatti" Barbera d'Alba 2009 ** Deep red licorice color. Musky, primeval, nicely balanced throughout the mouth. Hard to place, blind, as a Barbera d'Alba. I would have thought Spanish, from the Tempranillo style nose, but it's quite nice, and a perfect start to Anno Italiano.
