From the middle vineyard on Monte Bello. Ultra deep purple. Very tight still, with mild smoke and bacon notes. Opens with crushed blackberries, oyster juice, oak, a tactile acidity on the finish with drying fore-tannins. Very full and mature. Lacks the flair and complexity of the 95 Monte Bello but this is shockingly good still.
Ah, Cab Jim! A rarefied and funky lil' beauty, to say the least. So glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for highlighting Ridge on your very fine blog!
